We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our Invercargill-based Finance team and play a key role in managing and optimising our financial processes.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage financial records, ensure accurate reporting, and contribute to the financial success of the company. As part of our Finance team, you will support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements, handle day-to-day accounting functions, and assist with regulatory compliance. You should also have an understanding of taxation and employment matters along with strong IT skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations and process journal entries.
Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Support the preparation of tax returns and assist with audits and internal controls.
Analyse financial data to provide insights and recommendations for improving business performance.
Work closely with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Support the processing of fortnightly payroll.
About you:
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the financial services industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, payroll legislation and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software, especially Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
A tertiary qualification in Accounting.
Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or an internationally recognised equivalent.
