Description

Job Description: The Signature Research Programme in Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders (NBD) is focused on understanding the structure and function of the nervous system, and the neural mechanisms underlying human neurological, psychiatric and ophthalmological disorders. The Laboratory of Neural Stem Cells, led by Professor Hongyan Wang, is dedicated to understanding molecular mechanisms of brain development. Utilizing Drosophila, mouse, and human brain organoids as model systems, our research focuses on elucidating neural stem cell proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration, as well as their implications in neurodevelopmental disorders (Science Advances 2024, Nature Communications 2024, PLOS Biology 2024, Cell 2024, Developmental Cell 2023, 2010, 2011). Prof. Wang, an EMBO Associate Member, is an internationally recognised leader in the field of neural stem cells. This position represents an exceptional opportunity to gain experience in cutting-edge biomedical research within a friendly, collaborative, and supportive laboratory environment. For further details, please visit the Wang Lab website: Wang Lab Website. Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research which could have a considerable influence and impact on the relevant field attracting research funding. Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design and management of research activities. Contribute to occasional educational/instructional activities and project management. Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate/medical students and research assistants. Maintain optimal experiment progress in the laboratory or in the research work undertaken. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein. Job Requirements Ph D in Biological Science or related disciplines. High level of motivation and a keen interest in neural stem cells. Proven track record in the form of high impact publications. Demonstrated capability of research independence progressively.
