ROLE SUMMARY:
 
We need an enthusiastic and proactive Consumer Brand and Communications Manager to join our brand team for a 12 month maternity cover. 
This role is a central part of the ECOYA Marketing team, with specific emphasis and understanding of the Australasian Market and strong relationships with media, celebrities and influencers alike. 
It includes input into the overall ECOYA brand strategy alongside other key team members, all Public Relations for the ECOYA brand and management of the PR budget, press communications, social influencer management, influencer partnership management, event management for press, brand activations and launches.
Communications are managed within this role, including copywriting of all brand content as well as managing social platforms copy (and content) alongside Marketing. This role also works with the sales team to support their retailers with social and marketing opportunities that align with what is being activated across the brand channels.
This position is responsible for managing the relationship with our Australian PR agency and managing all collateral with them to ensure the brand is being upheld in the Australian market.
There will be travel to Australia as required to meet with our Australian PR agency and do desk sides and meet and greets with press to present upcoming collections or feature stories.
The role is a full-time, 40 hours a week Monday-Friday position based in Britomart, Auckland with a hybrid working model.

OBJECTIVES:
Continue to make the ECOYA brand famous, with the primary focus being on our home markets of Australia and New Zealand.
In a saturated market, ensuring ECOYA is the most talked about home fragrance brand in Australia and New Zealand.
Continue to grow our brand presence through brand activations, social activations, influencer partnerships and/or seeding and the creation and sharing of amazing content.
Ensuring that whenever the ECOYA brand shows up in whatever capacity, that it is to a standard that we uphold of the brand, be that partnerships, gifting, sponsorship etc.
 
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Media Relations
Facilitating and executing all activations of PR in both Australian and New Zealand markets, with the support of Portobello PR in Australia.
Press release creation for all new product launches and all other brand relevant content.
Press send outs – media kits and celebrity and influencer gifting – concept and execution.
Influencer seeding – new product and seasonal send outs to influencers that generates social coverage.
Event production and creative concepts. This includes Christmas press showing days, product launch parties and events, brand specific launch parties and events and assistance with internal and sales events and product launches.
Management of AU PR agency, Portobello PR, and all press assets they require.
Maintain and nurture relationships with key editors and media.
Bread and butter press – Placement in relevant product reviews – new products and ongoing collections to appear in beauty, home and interior news, plus seasonal gifting opportunities (gift guides – Mother’s Day, Christmas etc).
Communications
Copywriting of all written brand content – press releases, eDMs, social media copy, monthly metros as well as product descriptions, fragrance descriptions and any other required brand copy.
Ensuring the tone of voice across all of the above content is correct and consistent for the brand.
Brand Partnerships
This role acts as a brand guardian / brand management role alongside Marketing.
All partnerships with other brands, individuals and foundations are well aligned for the ECOYA brand.
Ensuring influencers and micro influencers are the right people to be talking about our brand. This list is revisited and approved regularly alongside Portobello PR and Head of Marketing.
Ensuring press coverage is received in the right publications – i.e. no blanket send outs. Press send outs are catered to each send out and each publication.
Sponsorship opportunities and charitable partnerships – ensuring these opportunities are fruitful and benefit our brand.
Upholding the brands aspirational image.
Ideas and Execution
Overall brand strategy that extends into ideas and execution that gain media traction beyond simple product placement.
Business Media
When appropriate, generating business or brand and business features to promote business or trade wins, profiling on the CEO in appropriate publications.
Working with central Marketing team
To implement ideas locally. E.g. Mother’s Day promotions etc.
Building ideas to support the goal of ECOYA being known as a leader in the Australasian home fragrance category.
Supporting the Marketing Team in brand activations.
Supporting the Sales team (NZ and AU)
Extend brand activations to the sales team, so they can activate similarly with their retailers.
Creating concepts through to the how to activate for sales team to share with their chosen retailers.
Social Media
Responsible for Instagram – both written and visual content.
Manage day to day content & brief creative production requirements on Instagram feed, story and reel
Content pillars – ensure content is generated, working alongside wider marketing team and design on photoshoots and other content.
Develop & manage socially-led/solo competitions / giveaways alongside the Marketing team.
Customer relations – responding to all customer complaints via Instagram and redirecting to our customer service team.
Influencer Partnerships
Work with head of marketing and Portobello PR on brand/ influencer partners.
Manage those relationships with either the influencer or their management teams and coordinate all strategy and content creation.
Photoshoots
Work with Head of Marketing and Design to coordinate photoshoots for our ‘lifestyle’ content.
Sponsorship and Charity Opportunities
Ensuring all brand partnerships are the right fit for the brand and management of those alongside the Marketing team.
Charity send outs – working through charitable enquiries and partner with foundations that are appropriate for the brand, whilst working within a monthly budget.
Charitable partnerships – continue to nurture those and/or establish and present new partners or opportunities if they arise – Starship and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundations are our principal charity partners.
KEY EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
A minimum five years experience in a Public Relations and/or Communications and / Brand role.
You have a strong understanding of the NZ media landscape and have relationships with key media in this market.
You have a good understanding of Australian publications (editors not required, but a definite advantage).
You have a genuine energy and passion for the ECOYA brand and for the home / interior / beauty category.
You have excellent written and oral communication skills to engage with media, celebrities and influencers.
You have excellent attention to detail in all written communications.
You are self-motivated and a good team player.
You have a high degree of commercial acumen.
You have a strong understanding of social media and managing these and any third party apps to support social media.
