About the Role As a Cyber Security Analyst, you'll safeguard Environment Canterbury's digital technology assets by monitoring, analysing, and responding to cyber threats.
You'll implement security frameworks, maintain compliance, and promote cyber awareness across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Investigating and responding to security alerts and incidents Performing vulnerability assessments and recommending remediation Supporting penetration tests and audits to validate security controls Collaborating with internal teams to embed security-by-design principles Delivering cyber security awareness training and guidance About You You're a proactive problem-solver with strong technical expertise and a passion for cyber security.
You thrive under pressure and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience A tertiary qualification in IT, Cyber Security, or related field Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, Comp TIA Security+)At least 2 years' experience in cyber security roles and 3 years in IT operations Hands-on experience with SIEM tools, firewalls, endpoint security, and cloud platforms Experience with Microsoft's cybersecurity suite (e.g., Defender, Sentinel) and cloud platforms like Azure preferred.

Hours of Work Permanent full-time position 40 hours per week – from time to time, as required, the role may require work outside of normal work hours for emergency and flood response and to represent Environment Canterbury at meetings and events with partners, other agencies, and the community.
Location This position is predominantly based at 200 Tuam Street, Christchurch.
Salary The indicative salary range for the role is $74,306 to $91,790 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
