Our preference is for this role to be Christchurch-based, however we're open to applications for other PDP offices.

About the Role: Conduct hydraulic/flood modelling studies for river systems and catchments.

Conduct/assist with a wide range of river engineering-related tasks such as rock rip-rap revetment design, stream channel design, and the analyses of complex spatial data sets (conventional cross-section survey and Li DAR).

Conduct hydrological investigations including baseline hydrology studies, and hydrological assessments for hydro-electric, irrigation, and public water supplies.

Conduct geomorphological assessments.

Conduct fieldwork including surface water monitoring (business travel might be required).

Opportunity to assist with the development of Python scripts and modules.

Write technical reports.

What You'll Bring: We are looking for an individual who it committed to solutions for our environment and using their talent and knowledge against a variety of projects.

With your passion and diverse skill set we hope to deliver quality to our clients and therefore we hope the ideal candidate will have the following: Bachelor or Master's degree from a well-recognised university in Environmental Engineering, Earth Science, Geography, Environmental Science or similar; Up to 10 years of post-graduate experience, ideally in flood modelling, river engineering, geomorphological assessments and/or hydrology.

Excellent computer skills, ideally in relevant hydrological and hydraulic models such as Tuflow, HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.

Knowledge of GIS systems.

Knowledge of hydrological and water resource principles.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organisational skills.

Creative thinking to find innovative and sound solutions for our clients.

A collegial, team-player with a 'can do' attitude.
