About the Role We are seeking a hands-on AI Engineer to join our small but ambitious team. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing AI-driven workflows, working directly with the co-founders to break high-level goals into actionable deliverables. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, can manage complexity, and is eager to contribute across the product lifecycle, from concept to deployment. Responsibilities Build and Optimize AI Workflows: Design and implement robust data pipelines for large-scale document processing, metadata extraction, summarization, and reporting. Develop AI Features: Integrate LLMs, embeddings, and vector databases into workflows to deliver powerful, intelligent user experiences. Orchestrate Data Pipelines: Use Dagster to manage multi-stage pipelines and ensure scalability, reliability, and observability in workflows. Eval Testing: Implement evaluation frameworks to assess pipeline performance, using human-in-the-loop processes to refine models and improve system outputs. CI/CD & Automation: Establish and maintain CI/CD workflows to streamline deployments and ensure reliable operations. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with co-founders and other team members to understand product requirements and translate them into epics, stories, and actionable tasks. Support Production Systems: Monitor deployed workflows, address bugs, and enhance system performance to ensure high availability and reliability. Stay Current: Research and recommend new technologies and methods to maintain a leading-edge product. What We’re Looking For We value people who are excited to solve tough problems and take ownership of their work. Ideal candidates will have the following: Must-Have Skills5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on production systems. Proficiency in Python and data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, Num Py, Scikit-learn). Experience working with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Py Torch) and LLMs (e.g., Open AI APIs, Lang Chain, Llama Index). Expertise in data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Dagster or similar). Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools (e.g., Docker). Ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize tasks in a startup environment. Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with YAML-driven workflows or similar configuration-based systems. Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools like Pulumi or Terraform. Familiarity with Postgres databases, vector stores, and distributed systems. Experience using tools like promptfoo or W&B Weave to design and implement evaluation/testing for AI prompts. Experience in building user-facing AI products or reporting tools. Prior work in a startup or small team environment.
