Our core purpose is to enhance the economic value and sustainable management of New Zealand's aquatic resources and environments, to provide an understanding of climate and the atmosphere, and increase resilience to weather and climate hazards to improve safety and wellbeing of New Zealanders.
We are seeking a coordinator to join our busy and dynamic People & Capability team. The role is based at our Auckland Head Office in a vibrant Viaduct location. This position offers the opportunity to contribute and gain experience across the entire Human Resources remit, including recruitment and selection, induction, performance management, learning and development, organisational culture and values, employment relations, and reward and recognition. You will provide vital administrative support to the People & Capability team, to enable us to deliver on our operational and strategic objectives and you'll be the "face" of the function, providing day to day advice and support to managers and staff.
Our ideal candidate will be tertiary qualified and while some prior experience in a Human Resources or other administration role would be great, we will also consider a top notch recent graduate. Strong professionalism, teamwork and an ability to work constructively with internal customers will stand you in good stead.
High levels of initiative, great follow through and the ability to be flexible and responsive are key attributes of this role, and your strong work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile will ensure your success.
Are you looking for an HR opportunity working with a talented and supportive team? Then we want to hear from you!
We don't expect perfection in our candidates - if you think you have what it takes, but don't meet every point referenced in the position description, please still get in touch!
NIWA offers flexible working options (e.g., part-time, flexible start and finish times). We are happy to discuss potential flexible options for this position at the interview stage.
NIWA promotes the importance and value of an inclusive and diverse workforce, including the Rainbow Community, and pride ourselves on being a family-friendly and supportive workplace.

Architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructing buildings and other physical structures. Architectural works, in the material form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art. Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements. The term architecture is also used metaphorically to refer to the design of organizations, software, and other abstract concepts. Construction is the process of constructing a building or infrastructure. Construction differs from manufacturing in that manufacturing typically involves mass production of similar items without a designated purchaser, while construction typically takes place on location for a known client. Construction as an industry comprises six to nine percent of the gross domestic product of developed countries. Construction starts with planning, design, and financing; and continues until the project is built and ready for use.
