Clinical Examiner (casual) - Nurse Maude Simulation and Assessment Centre We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to join our team on a casual basis, to carry out Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) for internationally qualified nurses who apply to register in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The OSCE's take place in a purpose-designed simulation and assessment centre on our premises in Merivale, Christchurch.
Are you a Registered Nurselooking for a new challengewanting to make a direct contribution to the health sector workforce, through assessing international nurseswith a current APC and have 5+ years' experience nursing in New Zealand.seeking a casual position, with rostered shifts available Monday-Friday (must undertake minimum of 1 shift per fortnight)Te Whakahaerenga/The Organisation Nurse Maude is a well‐known and highly regarded organisation, who have been providing healthcare services to the community for over 120 years.
We are contracted by the Nursing Council of New Zealand to administer OSCEs as part of the registration process for internationally qualified nurses.
We are currently the only provider of regulatory OSCEs (on behalf of the Council) in NZ.
Te Mahi/About the Position The OSCE is a time‐specific station‐based examination.
One examiner is required in each station to observe and assess the candidates in real‐time, and submit the assessment via an electronic system before the next candidate arrives.
Key aspects of the role include: Ensuring the OSCE station is consistently set up and delivered, as outlined in the scenario instructions, for examinations in the Centre.
Observing and assessing candidates' performance during the OSCE, using the assessment criteria provided.
Using the electronic assessment software to complete assessments in a timely manner.
Supporting, guiding and providing constructive feedback to simulated patients (Assessment Support personnel)Participating in ongoing training and calibration sessions, as required, to ensure the integrity and consistency of clinical examinations to a high standard.
Maintaining examination assessment processes at all times.
He momo/About you To be successful in this role you will have: A Diploma / Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent).
A current New Zealand APC, without restrictions or notifications.
Availability of at least 1 day per fortnight needed to maintain competence.
At least 5 years' experience working as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand.
Experience supporting, working with and/or assessing new graduate nurses.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA).
Experience with clinical competence assessment of practice.
Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills including providing and receiving constructive feedback.
Strong report writing ability.
Strong IT skills, quick to learn.
The ability to keep calm while working under pressure and solve problems quickly.
Sound understanding of the role of regulation in health.
An open mind and positive outlook.
