Description

Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Limited (CCRL) is a registered charity and special purpose company responsible for the Cathedral reinstatement, including the fundraising. The group includes a small specialist project team responsible for overall project delivery including consenting, design, construction and fundraising. The project is progressing well and due for completion in 2027. For more information: www.christchurchcathedral.org.nz. The stabilisation phase will complete late 2022, paving the way for commencement of the strengthening and reinstatement works. The design and construction activities are being carried out in a collaborative manner with all parties focussed on the safe, efficient and cost effective reinstatement of this icon of Christchurch.

The new role of Senior Project Manager will join the existing project team, but very quickly step up to provide leadership with responsibility for construction phase project management. The Project Manager will report to the Project Director and on a day to day basis will work collaboratively with the team of consultants and contractors, taking direct ownership and responsibility for delivering what promises to be a world first base isolated Cathedral. This project, will by its very nature, provide some unique challenges and uncertainty, and so proven construction experience and skills in managing relationships with a range of stakeholders, along with the ability to effectively monitor and manage the planning and programming of a project are critical selection criteria. The successful candidate will have a well developed set of project management skills in cost, risk management and opportunity taking, along with excellent written, oral and communication skills.

In seeking applications we are looking for experienced Project Managers that can offer a solid range of proven technical construction and project management skills, with good systems knowledge and strong attention to detail. Previous experience in the New Zealand commercial construction sector is essential. We are then looking to identify those candidates who are self-motivated and know how to manage and lead in a collaborative manner. This is a role for an experienced and capable project manager to develop leadership skills with an eye on a career defining completion in 2027. The remuneration level is attractive and as indicated there will be great scope for development on this unique and high profile restoration project.

Architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructing buildings and other physical structures. Architectural works, in the material form of buildings, are often perceived as cultural symbols and as works of art. Historical civilizations are often identified with their surviving architectural achievements. The term architecture is also used metaphorically to refer to the design of organizations, software, and other abstract concepts. Construction is the process of constructing a building or infrastructure. Construction differs from manufacturing in that manufacturing typically involves mass production of similar items without a designated purchaser, while construction typically takes place on location for a known client. Construction as an industry comprises six to nine percent of the gross domestic product of developed countries. Construction starts with planning, design, and financing; and continues until the project is built and ready for use.
