Tairawhiti Museum is one of New Zealand's most highly regarded regional museums and a much-loved community organisation, committed to developing and sharing the art, culture and history of Tairawhiti through engaging exhibitions, collections, events and educational programmes. An opportunity exists for a highly motivated and inspiring Director to lead Tairawhiti Museum. The successful applicant will guide and inspire staff; develop an innovative and varied programme of exhibitions and public programmes; ensure the museum maintains professional standards; and maintain successful and positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. To be successful in this role you will be an experienced museum professional who can continue to develop the museum's services and standing within the wider community and have: A university degree in a relevant area of study and a post graduate qualification in museum studies A minimum of five-years' experience at a senior level in a public museum or art gallery Proven leadership skills and experience Proven ability to develop strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders Proven ability to work constructively with staff and develop and enhance their capabilities Excellent verbal, written, ICT and administrative skills This is a permanent, full time (37.5h) position.
