About the role
We seek a Registered Nurse to join our Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS) as a Case Manager. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years post-NESP experience.
The CADS role involves providing case management support to adults with moderate to severe addiction issues, often alongside mental health or physical health challenges.
Our CADS Case Managers work within a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for clients and whānau. They utilize evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and collaborate with other services to facilitate recovery.
With stable staffing and manageable caseloads—typically around 15 clients—our staff can work intentionally, pursue professional development, and take on additional roles within the service. The salary range is $75,773 to $106,739, depending on experience.
About the Team/Service/Location
Te Whatu Ora - Tūhonohono Addiction Services (CADS and the Opioid Treatment Service) comprises nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, medical staff, and administrators. We prioritize client and whānau-centered care, cultural and community connections, and evidence-based interventions. Our team fosters a safe, supportive work environment, recognized as one of the most safe workplaces in CCDHB.
We support staff development through in-service training, cultural supervision, orientation, and encouragement for further education, including postgraduate certificates in Nursing, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
About you
An understanding of Te ao Māori, including Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga, and te Reo, is advantageous. Experience in the Mental Health and Addiction sector and demonstrated competency are preferred, but we are open to less experienced candidates who show potential for rapid development.
1. Duties

Support clients' mental health and addiction needs.
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Engage clients in their recovery journey.
Work effectively with addiction and mental health issues.
Undertake comprehensive assessments and planning.
Coordinate with other services and NGOs.

2. Skills and experience
The successful candidate will possess:

Registered Nurse qualification in New Zealand.
Completion of a CAP with a Mental Health scope or the Mental Health NESP Program.
Excellent communication skills and rapport-building abilities.
Experience in the Addiction sector is an advantage.
Experience in the Mental Health sector is an advantage.
