Full time, Permanent Y Tamariki is a kaupapa Māori-informed, bilingual early learning centre where te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and whanaungatanga are central to our practice.
We are seeking a values-driven bilingual centre manager to provide strong operational and people leadership while nurturing a culturally sustaining environment for tamariki and whānau.
This role suits an experienced leader with centre management and relationship-building expertise.
Teacher registration is not required, as curriculum leadership is supported by a dedicated Pedagogical Leader and registered teaching team.
About the role You will lead the day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring safe, effective practice aligned with kaupapa Māori values, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Ministry of Education requirements.
Responsibilities include staff leadership, compliance, health and safety, budgeting, whānau engagement, reporting, and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with the General Manager Services to maintain high-quality bilingual practice and represent Y Tamariki within the community.
About you You bring experience in ECE centre management or community leadership, alongside a strong understanding of kaupapa Māori, tikanga Māori, and te ao Māori.
You are confident promoting te reo Māori and building mana-enhabling relationships with staff and whānau.
You demonstrate sound operational management, clear communication, reflective practice, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and tamariki wellbeing.
Teacher registration and ECE qualifications are not required.
