About the role: Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Claims Consultant to join our team in Wellington.
The focus of this role is to provide excellent customer service to customers, by way of timely, accurate and efficient management of claims in line with the company policies and contractual obligations.
Customer contact will be primarily over the telephone and via email.
Service to customers will include but is not limited to lodging of claims, considering policy response, answering queries and processing and approving of claim payments and to provide support to other Agency claims consultants.
Key responsibilities for the role include: Provide efficient, helpful service to customers and timely effective settlement of claims.
Providing an excellent level of service within the Agency Claims Team and within Fair Insurance Code guidelines Ensure customers understand the policy coverage, and receive the full benefit of their policies in every instance Maintain complete and accurate records Alert Manager of any issues that have become complex or have escalated so that they can be quickly resolved within the Team Work within the Team to provide support and help where needed, looking to be a Team Player at every opportunity and to maintain service level standards at all times Load all new claims within 24 hours of receipt and follow claim guidelines to ensure prompt efficient service for our clients Review open claims every 28 days as a minimum and take proactive steps to progress every claim toward settlement Keep a positive outlook and look to turn difficult customers around where possible, remain non-reactive to provocation Provide support and assistance to Agency Claims Manager, SMARTpak Claims Team Manager and Senior Claims Consultants as and when required Apply best business practice – ethically, professionally and with integrity in all circumstances so that Gallagher's reputation and brand are never undermined Develop your technical and procedural knowledge through effective training and continuing education Be reliable and punctual for duties within the Agency Claims Team.
Skills and Experience: Competent user of office software applications such as Microsoft Office A willingness to work in a high performing team, showing respect for all members of the Claims Team A demonstrated passion for Customers and excellence with regard to any Customer related issues A demonstrated "can do" attitude to getting the job done Previous experience in the Insurance Industry and experience with claims handling, particularly Motor and/or Property Claims A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Financial Services, Insurance or NZQA/ Insurance Industry recognised qualifications is preferred but not essential We believe that every candidate brings something special to the table, including you!
