Your role will involve the delivery of a range of psychological therapies for adults with severe mental health disorders. You will be expected to undertake comprehensive assessments and risk management plans, formulate and articulate treatment needs and plans; provide individual/group therapies for a broad range of mental health difficulties

Porirua CMHT is a multi-disciplinary team with Drs, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapist, Psychologists and an Admin Team. We are a team with a lot of experience and some of us have worked together for many years which demonstrates the stability of the team. We provide a range of treatments and therapies and provide a Dealing with Emotions group to some of our clients. 

We have a good working relationship with other services and the local community. We enjoy celebrating achievements with shared lunches and doing the 5 minute quiz at lunchtime. As we are on the 8th floor of the BNZ Tower we enjoy the best views of Porirua and the harbour. 

Moū – About you

You will be working with a dynamic and experienced multidisciplinary team who strive to provide high quality care to tangata whaiora family/whanau seeking mental health and addiction services.

We are looking to recruit a Clinical Psychologist with:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent 
  • Registration with the NZ Psychology Board as a Registered Psychologist with a Clinical Scope of practice
  • Current Practicing Certificate
  • Proven psychological, psychometric and neuropsychological assessment skills 
  • Ability to work in a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and demonstrate values consistent with those of the MHAIDS Services.
  • Committed to working within the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. 
  • Capacity to practice in a manner that engages tangata whaiora/consumers/whanau from a range of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively with partner agencies in the community to meet a diverse range of needs.
  • Demonstrates competence in communicating with a wide range of people, and leads meetings and documents outcomes and plans
  • Experience in the field of mental health is preferred
  • You will be a team player with a sense of humour
