The Space Systems Division is shaping Rocket Lab's future with Photon, our brand of high-performance satellites, enabling innovative missions in low Earth orbit and beyond including missions for NASA to LEO, the Moon, and Mars and commercial customers, including leading the design and manufacture of 17 high-power telecommunication spacecraft buses for Globalstar. Rocket Lab is also growing our spacecraft components business, anchored on the acquisition of Sinclair Interplanetary manufacturing reaction wheels and star trackers in Toronto, SolAero Technologies manufacturing solar power and primary structure solutions in Albuquerque, Planetary Systems Corporation manufacturing launch separation systems in Silver Spring, and Advanced Solutions, Inc., provider of flight and ground software as a service in Denver. Our components business is key to vertically integrating our spacecraft solutions and enabling constellations for customers. QUALITY INSPECTOR - CMM PROGRAMMER II This role will is within our Quality Assurance team and will ensure hardware received and produced in the Rocket Lab Long Beach facility conforms to engineering requirements through efficient and effective detection methods. In this role you will help prevent faulty hardware from progressing in the manufacturing process and support root cause mitigation and elimination of failure modes. You will support the Quality Manager and Production organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: Perform complex mechanical inspections for spacecraft assemblies and some purchased parts, 3D-printed components, large structures, CNC-machined items, electro-mechanical components, and solar panels. Perform all types of precision inspections including receiving, in process and final assembly. This includes capability to effectively use hand measurement systems , optical comparator, microscope, Romer arm and Laser tracker. Thoroughly document non-conformances in accordance with Rocket Lab systems and procedures in our internal ERP, MES and Issue tracking system. Collaborate with engineering and management to improve work instructions and identify critical inspection points in the process. Embody a Built in Quality philosophy, consistently detecting non-conformances (Don't accept a Defect – Don't Pass a Defect) and preventing escapes to downstream customers. YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: 2 + years of experience in a quality manufacturing environment. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Demonstrated ability to program and operate a CMM (PC- Dmis and or Calypso) Demonstrated ability to operate a Laser tracker. THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: High level of experience using hand measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, feeler gauges, pine gauges, thread gauges, surface roughness measurement, microscope etc. Some exposure to CMM using Calypso or PC Demis software Experience on using measurement instruments like comparators Inspection experience with aerospace components & assemblies Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. SHIFT HOURS 5:00am - 3:30pm Monday – Thursday (4 Days X 10 Hrs.) The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. In addition to base salary, Rocket Lab offers a comprehensive total compensation package based on individual qualifications and experience, which may include cash or equity incentives.
