Commercial, Marketing & Communications team.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving revenue, building strategic partnerships, and leading all marketing and communications activity across the organisation. About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll lead the development and delivery of our commercial strategy, oversee sponsorship and partnership management, grow all revenue streams, and champion our communications both internally and externally.
You’ll manage a small but capable team to deliver high-quality marketing campaigns, digital content, media relations, and brand storytelling that connect with members, sponsors, and the wider sailing community.
This role is equal parts commercial leadership and brand strategy, perfect for someone who thrives on variety, collaboration, and seeing tangible results.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Commercial, Marketing & Communications team, setting strategic direction and overseeing execution.
Manage and grow all commercial revenue including sponsorship, corporate memberships, trust funding, and legacy giving.
Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors and partners, ensuring all contractual rights and benefits are delivered.
Develop and oversee multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive member engagement and promote RNZYS events and initiatives.
Deliver timely commercial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning support to the General Manager.
Work closely with the Sailing, Membership, and Events departments to maximise integrated opportunities for visibility and revenue.
What You’ll Bring
Proven leadership experience in commercial strategy, sponsorship, and marketing—ideally within the sporting or not-for-profit sector.
A track record of successful relationship and stakeholder management.
Strong communication and organisational skills with a hands-on, collaborative approach.
Creative thinking with the ability to bring the RNZYS brand to life across print, digital, and social platforms.
Self-motivation and the ability to work with initiative in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Marketing or Business tertiary qualification preferred, but not essential.
A genuine interest in sailing or sport is a plus.
