Description

General adult mental health and addiction services in North Island, New Zealand has openings for 3 full-time consult psychiatrists. Mental health services has these opportunities to either explore specialties or generalist consultant psychiatry in general adult, mental health services for older people and infants, and child and adolescent psychiatry. Days and hours can be negotiated. Situated in Coastal North Island, New Zealand – This desirable region offers vast golden sand beaches, bush clad mountains, lush farmlands, with significant historical landmarks, natural wonders, and a deep connection to Maori culture. We enjoy a pleasant climate, short commutes and a relaxed approach that creates a work-life offering that is enviable to most that are not yet here. Our hospital works to increase collaboration, strengthen leadership and accountability, and improve equity of access and outcomes across the health service. We are shifting the emphasis towards primary and community care, allowing more people to be cared for close to home and take a greater role in their own health and wellbeing. The successful applicant will have diverse clinical work and will experience rewarding and unique collaborations engaging Maori communities. This role will suit a psychiatrist who has energy to tackle inequities, a desire to engage in service development, and the motivation to make a difference within our community. Generalist psychiatrist skills are required as participation in an after hours on-call roster is required. The after-hours roster is well supported by skilled and experienced front line clinical staff who work with a cultural team.
Skills & Experience

Broad clinical experience
Specialist knowledge and broad clinical experience of mental health services for older people and general adult psychiatry
Ability to work professionally and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Commitment to quality and safety in a clinical practice
