In pursuit of excellence, the Dunedin School of Medicine, in association with Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora - Southern, seeks to appoint a TD Scott Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor of Urology.
This position is available as a result of a generous gift to the University aimed at establishing a strong academic and research presence in Urology within the Dunedin School of Medicine. It offers an excellent opportunity for a clinical academic to establish themselves in one of the leading medical schools in Australasia.
The primary focus for this position is to support research into issues affecting male health, particularly urological conditions. There are opportunities for wider collaboration with other departments such as Anatomy, Pathology, and Preventive and Social Medicine.
In addition to holding the academic position, the appointee will concurrently serve as a Consultant Urologist with Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Southern. This is a joint university/hospital role, combined into a single contract, representing the equivalent of a full-time position.
Academic Component (0.5 FTE)
The successful applicant will be based in the Department of Surgical Sciences, Dunedin School of Medicine, and appointed as Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on experience and achievements. Responsibilities include teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and engaging in laboratory and clinical research.
Clinical Component (0.5 FTE)
Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Southern covers the largest geographical area among New Zealand regions, serving 350,000 people. The successful applicant will participate in an on-call roster and provide comprehensive urological services alongside colleagues. Requirements include a fellowship in Urology, completion of a fellowship in Urology, and eligibility for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
