About the Role As a Contract Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making for hospital investment and funding.
Working within the Funding, Hospitals team in the Planning, Funding and Outcomes Directorate, you'll provide analysis and advice to inform investment prioritisation, strategic planning, and pricing decisions.
You'll gather, interpret, and communicate technical, clinical, economic, and financial data to help ensure hospital purchasing and funding activities are robust, equitable, and aligned with national health objectives.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, applying critical thinking, and collaborating across teams to deliver insights that drive real impact in New Zealand's health system.
About the Service This role sits within the Public and Private Hospital Purchasing team, part of the Funding, Hospitals function in the Planning, Funding and Outcomes Directorate.
The team provides key analytical and advisory support to ensure that investment decisions are well-informed, sustainable, and aligned with system priorities and equity outcomes.
About you You are a collaborative and detail-oriented analyst with a strong ability to interpret complex data and communicate your findings clearly.
With an analytical mindset and a passion for continuous improvement, you thrive in environments where your insights contribute to meaningful outcomes.
You will bring excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a genuine commitment to supporting equitable health outcomes through evidence-based work.
You will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.5+ years' experience in an analytical role, ideally within health, funding, or public sector environments.
Proven ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to develop evidence-based options and recommendations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience interpreting financial and operational data.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a range of audiences.
A demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving Maori health equity.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
Desirable experience includes familiarity with hospital funding, investment frameworks, and an understanding of the machinery of government and policy processes.
