Job Description
Are you a skilled Design Engineer with a passion for innovation? We are looking for a talented
Design Engineer
to join our team and help shape the future of milking systems.
You will be responsible for creating innovative designs that enhance the performance, efficiency, and sustainability of our products. You will work closely with our development team, from concept to production, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
You will be involved in ‘hands on design’ as well as ensuring projects meet key milestones and deliverables. Producing detailed drawings, you will own the transition from design to manufacture and ongoing product management, all of which occurs on our site at Horotiu.
Key tasks include:
Design and develop mechanical and plastic components and systems for milking technology.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions
Conduct feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing of designs
Analyse and solve complex design challenges to ensure optimal functionality
Provide ongoing technical support for the production and implementation of designs.
Maintain the Milking Systems product portfolio
There is a strong focus on collaboration with the wider NPD team and other stakeholders to tap into the extensive internal expertise to deliver innovative componentry and systems for the Agri-tech sector. You will be an excellent communicator, who is well organised and can hit the ground running. Excellent priority setting will ensure those key milestones and deliverables are met.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years’ design experience with indepth experience designing metal, plastics and automation products
A recognised degree in Design Engineering or a related field
Experience in product design, preferably in agriculture, automation, or similar industries
Strong proficiency in CAD software (Solid Works, Auto CAD, or similar)
Solid understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skill
A passion for sustainable, innovative engineering solutions
Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
Approachable and flexible
A strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Have a good understanding, and passion for Agri-tech
Develop, manage, and sustain excellent relationships (both internal and external)
