Work on some of Auckland’s largest developments Join our team of 11 Civil Engineers looking after our South Auckland portfolio Worklife balance including hybrid working options plus a robust support system Auckland Council’s Development Engineers provide engineering expertise to Building and Resource Consenting teams and assess the design suitability and adequacy of construction on site for new infrastructure being constructed. We work closely with asset owners including Auckland Transport, Watercare, Healthy Waters and Parks to ensure Auckland’s growth and development will be safe. We are looking for a Development Engineer to provide expert technical advice and ensure compliance with legal and engineering standards. In this role, you will assess applications, draft consent conditions, and evaluate Engineering Plan Approvals in accordance with the Resource Management Act, Building Act, Bylaws, Unitary Plan, and Council’s engineering standards. You will also conduct site inspections to verify compliance and asset quality. Additionally, you will review Resource and Building Consent applications, ensuring all necessary information is provided before subdivision approval. Maintaining accurate records in SAP, updating timesheets, and proactively addressing issues will be key aspects of the role. Your ability to improve consent processes and enhance efficiency will contribute to the overall success of the department. You are a skilled engineer with a strong focus on customer service. You have experience coordinating stakeholders, communicate, and manage time well, and you like working in a collaborative team environment. You are someone who wants Auckland to be the best it can be. You like having exposure to a wide variety of work and you want to keep developing and growing your skills through applying your knowledge and experience in practical situations.
