About Us
Parnell Barristers is a specialist Criminal Law Chambers based in Parnell, Auckland. Our senior barristers have experience in the full range of criminal matters, from driving cases to murder trials, and on appeals. We appear in all the Auckland courts and around New Zealand as required.
The Opportunity
We are looking to recruit two juniors from August/September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry into criminal law. Training and supervision will be provided, along with the opportunity to progress through the criminal law grades.
Juniors will work with Senior Barristers and will be involved in:
- List court appearances
- Preparation of bails and submissions
- Appearances on legal arguments, bails, and progressing to trials
- General involvement in criminal defence case preparation and client management
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking excellent students, who have completed their Professionals and are admitted so they can attend court. You’ll need resilience, strong writing and legal research skills, common sense, and the ability to work independently including driving to courts. Most importantly, you should be motivated by the privilege of fighting for and defending the most vulnerable members of our community.
