Volunteer Opportunity in Tuakau – Become a Literacy Coach!
Are you passionate about literacy and keen to make a positive difference in your community? The Rural Youth and Adult Literacy Trust (RYALT) is looking for a caring and committed volunteer to support an adult female student in Tuakau.
You’ll meet regularly at a local library or community centre to provide one-on-one literacy support—and help someone open the door to new opportunities through learning.

Who We're Looking For
You don’t need teaching experience—just a willingness to help, patience, and a genuine desire to support others. We’ll guide you every step of the way.

Requirements:
Preferably has an educational background (but not essential)
Patient and supportive in their approach
Good computer skills
Fluent in English – strong spoken, reading, and writing abilities
Reliable and committed
A friendly, empathetic personality
Full training and ongoing support provided – no teaching experience required!
A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment:
1–2 hours per week
30–45 minute lessons, held once or twice a week
In person, at a public venue such as a local library or community centre
