Te kowhiringa | The Opportunity Reporting to our Tendering & Estimating Manager, you'll work with a highly competent team of estimators who bring a range of experience and expertise across the above sectors. Be responsible for developing accurate estimates for a variety of bids, across a range of disciplines, with a focus on term maintenance contracts, project work and comprehensive asset management. Your main focus is to prepare accurate tenders and quotations, ensuring their competitiveness within the marketplace whilst safeguarding the company's profitability. This will include all aspects of bid pricing including analysis of tender documentation, determination of current market rates for trades and services, asset assessment, identification of subcontractor requirements and full bottom up pricing. You will work with the wider estimating team to achieve the above outcomes and ensure compliance with Downer Governance processes and procedures. This will include liaising with internal financial analysts, Business Development and Operational staff to ensure bids are priced in accordance with current operating procedures, market conditions and comply with approval gates, as set by the overarching bid governance. Upon award of a contract, the Estimator will work closely with Business Development and Operational staff to ensure that all pertinent information relating to the bid is transferred in a professional and timely manner. This is a Full Time, Permanent opportunity based from the Downer Penrose depot. Nga pukenga matua | Important Skills Our preferred candidate would have a strong background in Civil Estimating within Infrastructure, Utilities and Transport sectors with proven commercial and operational experience in a projects environment. This is a "doing" role and experience with proprietary estimating software packages is a must. To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience: Strong industry experience in Infrastructure and Utilities with a good understanding of asset components Experience with an industry proprietary estimating packages (e.g. CANDY, CostX, Benchmark) Strong commercial / numerical and analytical ability with a diligent eye for detail Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
