About the Opportunity
We’re seeking an entrepreneurial and commercially minded leader with full P& L accountability to drive the performance and growth of our Auckland City branch. As Branch Manager, you’ll act as the ‘owner’ of the branch – developing your team, maximizing profitability, and strengthening customer and supplier partnerships. You'll be responsible for leading with a clear vision, driving disciplined margin management, and setting the tone for customer service excellence.
What You’ll Own
Full accountability for the branch P& L – owning revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and EBITDA targets.
Recruitment, coaching, and performance management of all branch staff, with a focus on developing the team into high performers and succession planning.
Execution of sales strategies to optimize margin and grow share in target categories across customers.
Delivery of branch-level initiatives aligned to company-wide margin, inventory, and cycle count KPIs.
Hands-on leadership in customer engagement – building deep, retained relationships with top contractors. Entails meeting with customers outside of the branch and addressing their needs.
Ensuring operational excellence across procurement, stock control, merchandising, and asset management.
Proactive identification and execution of cost-reduction or revenue-growth initiatives at the branch level.
Embedding a high-performance culture that rewards ownership, creativity, and continuous improvement.
The Ideal Candidate
Proven experience running a P& L or business unit and driving profitability improvement.
Strong track record in B2 B sales, pricing discipline, and gross margin management.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, build culture, and drive accountability.
Deep commercial curiosity with the ability to pilot new approaches and own outcomes without waiting for instruction.
Demonstrated ability to build strong, lasting customer relationships.
Excellent communication, internal stakeholder management, and supplier negotiation skills.
Experience in trade, electrical distribution, or similar industries is a strong advantage.
High comfort with financial and operational data to make informed decisions.
