Practice Manager BAS Accounting Firm

An established and growing BAS Accounting Firm is seeking an experienced senior accountant to step into a Practice Manager role overseeing its Pukekohe and Flat Bush practices. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a CA qualified professional who enjoys managing people, clients and multi site operations while remaining hands on with advisory and compliance work.
You will work closely with the Director to drive operational excellence, client satisfaction and sustainable growth across both locations.
The Role
As Practice Manager you will be responsible for the overall performance and day to day operations of the Pukekohe and Flat Bush sites. Your key responsibilities will include
Reviewing financial statements, tax planning and compliance work
Managing staff workflow across both sites and ensuring jobs are delivered on time and within budget
Acting as the primary relationship lead for key clients
Overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency consistency and alignment with firm objectives
Creditor management and payment oversight
Leading and attending client meetings
Managing IRD filings and compliance requirements
Driving staff performance and ensuring KPIs are achieved Providing leadership support and resolving operational or technical issues
Preparing monthly financial and performance reports for SBA Head Office and presenting results to the Director
Reviewing practice performance including P and L analysis, identifying trends risks and opportunities
Setting business goals and identifying growth opportunities within the Pukekohe and Flat Bush markets
Working closely with the Director to implement growth and expansion strategies
Identifying and developing new business leads
Supervising mentoring and developing members of the accounting team
Reviewing client accounts and providing meaningful commercial advice
Attending conferences and company events as required About You
You will be a confident senior accounting professional with strong leadership capability and proven public practice experience.
You will bring
CA qualification with at least five years experience in public practice
Senior level experience within an accounting firm with readiness to step into a multi site leadership role
Experience managing a diverse client portfolio including SMEs family trusts and sole traders
Strong knowledge of New Zealand IRD tax requirements
Excellent client and stakeholder management skills
High level of professionalism enthusiasm and a positive attitude
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage client relationships autonomously while supporting team success
Genuine interest in business advisory and problem solving
Strong financial reporting and analytical capability
High accuracy and attention to detail
Advanced Xero capability or Xero certification
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Self motivation with excellent workload management
