To manage projects with attributes assessed to be of highly complex and to establish and lead project teams to deliver complex Auckland Transport (AT) projects which are safe, customer centric and value for money.
The role includes detailed design management, stakeholder management, procurement, contract management and construction management.
This role will provide coaching and lead initiatives to develop organizational knowledge of project management best practice as well as taking on team management responsibilities, as required
Key Tasks include:
- Establishing and leading transport assets project teams comprising both internal AT staff and external partners to enable the successful delivery of AT business objectives and optimise project performance in terms of time, cost and quality
- Overseeing project teams to ensure compliance to the AT Enterprise Project Management Framework and providing expert advice on legislation, regulations, guidelines and standards.
- Ensuring project strategies, plans and activities incorporate the safety philosophy of 'Vision Zero" and overall organisational and workplace safety.
- Leading internal and external reporting inputs and foster a culture of continuous improvement in all reporting requirements.
- Leading complex tender processes, implementing procurement strategies, and establishing governance arrangements to monitor provider, supplier, and contractor performance.
- Relevant industry-recognised tertiary qualification in engineering, construction, or project management
- Full membership of relevant professional body
- Preferably working towards Chartership in Engineering New Zealand
- Relevant postgraduate or Project Management qualifications - PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP certified by PMI
- Minimum of 8 years' recent experience in design, project management and construction delivery
- Experience and positive track record in working with SAP or equivalent finance management systems
- Good understanding of, and ability to apply, safety in investigation, design, construction project stages including relevant Health & Safety regulations and legislation
- Recognised as a Subject Matter Expert in Project Management
