As the Vice President of Engineering for our Pushpay products, you'll play a pivotal role partnering with our CTO to chart the strategic course of our department, guiding us toward innovation and excellence. We were recently taken private and are excited about the new opportunities and growth possibilities this ownership transition brings. Pushpay has a cloud-native architecture in AWS and we are already a few years into our microservices journey with strong build, deployment, infrastructure-as-code, and SRE practises. With a tech stack encompassing.Net Core on Linux Containers, NodeJs, React & React Native, AWS and PHP, you'll be at the helm of a tech-savvy crew, steering our ship into the exciting waters of cutting-edge software development. What You'll Do Responsible for the full life cycle of application development, including: Responsible for leadership of day-to-day application development including web, mobile, back-end, front-end, customer facing and internal tooling across Pushpay's product lines Global responsibilities for all Pushpay engineering resources in the US, New Zealand, and associated offshore/nearshore locations Continuously improving a lean product development flow as well as the team and agile model in use Continuous Integration and deployment systems and practises Maintaining an architecture practise across the varied development teams Quality systems and practises (test practises, automation, etc) Planning, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, executing, monitoring, and communicating with respect to ongoing new product development initiatives Examples of Key Measures: Lead Time for Changes, Deployment Frequency, Change Failure Rates Responsible for day to day product operations: Maintaining high quality engineering practises that lead to high availability, high security, and high maintainability Maintaining engineering incident response processes and procedures Maintaining a strong DevOps practise Establishing a technical direction and health of the organisations hosting model Examples of Key Measures: Mean Time to Resolution, Uptime, Launch frequency Budget and Cost Management: Responsible for the annual budgeting process for the engineering department Operations budgeting and cost management Examples of Key Measures: -5% to +1% end of year budget conformance Senior Leadership team member: Work closely with the CTO to set the strategy, tone, and direction of the engineering organisation Work with the CTO to establish a long term technology strategy and workforce plan Work with the CTO to define and communicate the company's technical vision and architecture, keeping abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation Collaborate with senior executives on product related features, issues, and challenges: Work with the CTO and product management team to evaluate and implement our product roadmap, as well as participate in multi-functional planning and reviews with Product Management and others Staff and office leadership: Act as the senior engineering and product leader - maintaining office culture, monitoring and improving engagement, and reinforcing inclusion Work with peers in HR, Finance, and Product to ensure that Pushpay remains an employment option of choice Act as a manager of managers, leading and coaching engineering directors for their success and the success of the organisation Attract, engage, and retain talent Be an ambassador for Pushpay's engineering organisation Examples of Key measures: Engineering global employee turnover, employee engagement, open requisition time-to-fill What You'll Bring Skills At least 3 years experience leading software development at scale (manager of managers, staff of >25 developers across multiple teams) or equivalent At least 5 years of direct software development management experience At least 2 years experience working on or leading an operations environment, such as IT Ops, SaaS operations, or equivalent At least 2 years experience leading or significantly participating in department budgeting processes, including headcount planning, expenses and hosting costs Significant leadership experiences (5 or more years) and demonstrated success in at least one of the following: application development (web or mobile), Ops leadership, or security Demonstrated ability to attract, engage, and retain talent Past experience in SaaS companies, within product or engineering ( Preferred ) Past experience working with or managing globally distributed teams ( Preferred ) Experience that is related to Pushpay's industry, such as FinTech, Non-profit donations or faith verticals ( Preferred ) Experience At least 8-10 years experience in all aspects of software development leadership operation (manager or manager-of-managers).
