Principal Software Engineer
Locations are either New Plymouth, Auckland or Wellington
About the Role
We have two exciting opportunities for Principal Software Engineers, specializing in:
Java - focused on our service-oriented, containerized Enterprise Integration (API) services
JADE – leading our enterprise-grade application in our Core Banking environment
As a principal engineer, you will be responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining our business applications, as well as integrating them with internal systems and external partners. Your responsibilities include:
Collaborating with agile, cross-functional teams to enhance our software applications and services, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, secure, and support our business success.
Promoting and leading a Dev Ops culture, emphasizing shared responsibility for development and operations, and leading our Communities of Practice.
In this role, you can expect to:
Oversee and contribute to the creation, development, and deployment of software applications, APIs, and services, following architectural and development standards and best practices.
Support the ongoing enhancement of our current platforms, applications, services, and APIs.
Contribute to project planning, definition, and execution, focusing on delivering business value, including technical delivery and design considerations.
Maintain security, performance, and data integrity standards across the team, staying informed about current security issues and guidelines, and addressing security concerns proactively.
Monitor and manage applications, environments, and services within our mobile applications and platforms to meet SLAs.
Address system incidents and issues promptly to meet SLAs.
Provide on-call support for system-related issues 24/7 as part of your team’s responsibilities.
We are looking for candidates who have:
4+ years of experience as a Principal or Senior Software Engineer, developing applications or services in Java and/or JADE
Experience working within an agile software development framework
Operational support experience in a 24x7 technology service environment
Supporting enterprise-grade applications and web-enabled services in highly available environments
