About the Role:
We are expanding and seeking a Materials Analytical Scientist to advance our R&D efforts by addressing complex challenges and driving innovation. You will be responsible for materials characterisation, working independently and with our internal R&D team and external measurement partners. Your role is crucial in leveraging our laboratory and external resources to support research, translating analytical findings into actionable insights.

Location:
Based in our custom-built lab and office, 10 minutes from central Oxford.
Responsibilities:
- Analytical characterisation of perovskite materials and precursors for Micro LED technology.
- Utilise various analytical techniques (internally or at suppliers' sites) including TGA, FTIR, NMR, XPS, XRD, XRF, SEM/TEM, MS, wet chemistry, thermal analysis, and microscopy.
- Develop sample preparation and analytical methods for complex QC and R&D challenges, documenting procedures with SOPs.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve analytical techniques and equipment.
- Apply statistical methods to assess method accuracy and extract insights from datasets.
- Record analyses meticulously and maintain detailed laboratory records.
- Collaborate with external partners for accurate testing relevant to research.
- Support the implementation of the quality management system.
- Present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience & Attributes:
- Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field with industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as TGA, FTIR, NMR, MS, and wet chemistry, typically from research roles.
- Industry experience in materials or chemical characterisation.
- Proven ability to develop and validate analytical test methods.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools.
Advantages:
- Experience with quality management processes and procedures.
- Skills in analyzing large scientific datasets and familiarity with database systems.
