Description: Overview We are seeking a Tax Manager/Internal Compliance Officer for our financial services team. Lighthouse Financial Management, LLC, is a Rhode Island based, independent, SEC registered investment advisory firm that serves families, businesses, working professionals, and retirees in RI, CT, and across the country. Our firm is fee only and does not sell products or receive commissions from our clients or third parties. Our typical clients have busy lives and want to delegate their retirement planning, investment management, and tax compliance/planning to a trusted team of professionals. The selected candidate will work independently and collaborate with our team servicing clients in areas of tax compliance and tax planning (approximately 75%) and work with our outside compliance consultants to manage and maintain our firm's internal SEC compliance (approximately 25%). Job Duties and Responsibilities Tax Manager: • Tax preparation for individual clients from our financial planning firm as well as a small number of trust income tax returns. • Assist and supervise other staff members who are part of the tax service process including review of their work and tax returns for accuracy and completeness. • Conduct tax research as needed to support client questions, tax service employees and financial planners. • Tax estimates for open transactions including tax projections for end of year planning. • Responses to tax notices and representation before the Internal Revenue Service. • Monitoring and informing staff of developments in tax legislation. • Scheduling and meeting deadlines for staff. Compliance Officer: • Monitor and update our firm's policies and procedures manual. • Implement compliance policies and procedures as stipulated in our firm manual including staff supervision and training, monthly testing, and quarterly meetings. Qualifications Academic and Work Experience Tax Manager: • CPA or EA • MST preferred. • Five years + direct experience in tax compliance and planning. • Two years + direct supervisory experience. • Familiarity with Drake income tax preparation software. • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, CRM, Secure file transfers. Compliance Officer: • CFP or PFS (preferred at start of employment but not required) • Series 65 License (The Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination is available to study online and developed by NASAA.) Work Environment Our firm collaborates with clients in a team setting with each professional contributing to our clients' overall needs and success of every engagement. • Compensation will be based on work related experience, professional credentials, and academic training. The range is between 120K and 160K. • Safe Harbor 401(k) that includes matching contributions of 100% of the first 3% contributed and 50% of the next 2% contributed. • Health insurance supplement contribution annually. • Work hours are expected to average 40 hours per week with more time expected during the busy season and less outside of the busy season. • RI holidays are observed and paid. • Other Paid-time-off for vacation and sick time is three weeks (15 days).
