The Southern Charity Hospital Trust was established in 2019 following Blair Vining's highly publicised battle with terminal bowel cancer. To people throughout Aotearoa, Blair was an extraordinary man: a man who turned his own tragedy into a battle to ensure better cancer care for his community. One of the greatest legacies created is nearing completion, it will provide free services to those in the southern half of New Zealand (Southland and Otago) who are unable to access care through the public or private health systems. About the role An exciting opportunity exists for a driven, passionate, and committed Clinical Nurse/General Manager to ensure the legacy of the Vining's work continues. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the role will be well supported to offer strategic leadership and planning to a team of skilled and enthusiastic volunteers. They will be responsible for ensuring funding streams and managing the quality of service the Southern Charity Hospital provides. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Implementing a robust and achievable strategic plan Overseeing the application for grants and proactively exploring additional opportunities for funding. Establishing operating budgets and evaluating costs to ensure the best use of donated funds. Developing and maintaining relationships with key partners and creating a valuable profile of the Southern Charity Hospital with effective public relations. Overseeing the delivery of clinical care in the hospital, particularly with respect to quality and appropriateness, and when necessary, directly participating in that care. Overseeing the delivery of all services to ensure that the organisation complies with all applicable legislation and meets high quality standards of patient care. Seeking opportunities to introduce new initiatives that will improve outcomes for patients in the Southern community. About You To be successful in this role you will have the passion and drive to go the extra mile to deliver on Blair Vining's mission of better cancer care for all New Zealander's. You will also be able to demonstrate: Senior leadership or management experience, preferably of volunteer teams. Significant experience in managing finances and budgets, ideally within the not-for-profit sector. Experience in strategic planning implementation, and delivery. Excellent planning and organisation skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in public relations. Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders. A clinical, preferably surgical background and/or registered to practice in New Zealand.
