Te Pae Tawhiti – Our Future is about the Ministry of Social Development’s (MSD) future role and how MSD can make a bigger and better difference for New Zealanders. Te Pae Tawhiti transformation programme will deliver services that are easier, more accessible and integrated across employment, housing, and income support with greater use of partnering. Achieving this vision will be a long-term journey for MSD.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Transformation, the Director, Transformation Office is responsible for delivering MSD’s Te Pae Tawhiti programme and major change initiatives. Responsibilities will include;
Building a Transformation Office that provides world-class programme and portfolio management
Leading the strategy for how the Office will support the transformation and evolve over time
Actively engaging with and supporting the DCE Transformation, the leadership team, and collaborating with stakeholders across the enterprise
Building capability, leading, and empowering the Transformation Office
Oversight of three teams working across planning and reporting, controls and decision support and benefits and value management
Programme-level oversight of MSD’s integrated work programme, covering all major change initiatives
Working with and growing the maturity of the Agile delivery model.
To be successful you will demonstrate thought leadership and be key in developing and embedding the strategy to create a mature delivery model at scale. You will have a demonstrated track-record building high performing teams, in an executive or senior people leadership role.
A working understanding of the machinery of government and/or transformation in an organisation that serves the public will be advantageous. Experience in a Programme Management, PMO, Portfolio Management or Transformation office of scale is essential.

Candidates will have considerable experience working at a senior or executive level in large, complex, dynamic organisations. Demonstrated experience in establishing and leading the design and implementation of frameworks, processes, and capabilities at an enterprise level will also be necessary.
