We do this by: Protecting land, species, ecosystems, and cultural heritage for conservation purposes. Managing threats and adverse impacts Being a voice for conservation Connecting people to nature Our National Management Accounting team support the organisation in managing DOC's funding. You'll oversee a portfolio and have the opportunity to work closely with the Senior Leadership team. This role is truly diverse where you'll get involved in areas such as performance reporting, influencing decision making, forecasting, budgeting, and business case development. This role will allow you to hone your leadership and engagement skills with the senior leadership teams. Key responsibilities include: Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to the Group Monitor and analyse performance, prepare internal reports, and perform month end management accounting functions To provide support, advice, and quality assurance on business cases Perform and support the Group's budgeting requirements, monthly variance reporting, forecasting and baseline updates Provide specialist input to cross functional initiatives / projects / meetings Provide advice for and assist in the preparation of Cabinet papers, briefing papers and responses to OIA and Select Committee requests Develop financial models and improve systems and processes in line with industry best practice Work with senior leaders to educate and upskill their financial acumen This role is based in Wellington and we won't be considering candidates who are not based (or have plans to relocate) to Wellington for this role. As well as your thorough understanding of all accounting principles and practices you will bring good communication, planning, and organisational skills and will welcome the chance to enhance your career and develop your existing technical skills. If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you: A proven self-starter, able to use initiative to identify and help deliver process improvement opportunities, prioritise deliverables and anticipate the needs of the customer A strong business partnering focus, skilled at identifying and responding to user needs and comfortable working with the executive leadership team Demonstrates the ability to review and analyse complex accounting data and compile reports A sense of curiosity and inquisitiveness with proven problem-solving ability and exceptional communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills. The salary range for this position is $92,918 to $124,535 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
