We are seeking to add an experienced Senior Project Manager to the team running a portion of our Facilities Management Contract with Transpower. Due to growth in the number of projects in Transpower’s forward forecast, we are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead our Project Delivery team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high-performance team who are focused on delivering outstanding project outcomes for Transpower. This role involves leading a team of Project managers who are responsible for scoping and delivering a variety of civil projects regionally and contributing to the maintenance team when required. In this key position, you’ll be assisting with the delivery of all contractual obligations and revenue generation and ensuring the projects performance meets all customer requirements. This includes delivering on safety, optimising resource use and the achievement of KPI and target results. 

As a Senior Project Manager, your main responsibility will be to lead a team of Project Managers who are based throughout the country offering mentoring and guidance, You will also be involved in identifying, scoping, estimating and coordination of the delivery of a programme of works covering building / facilities work, civil construction, and HVAC. In addition, this role will include:

End-to-end project delivery, client and third-party liaison and sub-contractor management.
Working with the Project Managers, Project Engineers, Regional Managers, Field Tech’s, Sub-contractors and the Client to assist with scheduling and delivering the required works. This will include business case writing, scoping, quoting, financial processing and responsibility for the quality and completeness of all required documentation with a strong focus on Health & Safety requirements.
Promoting strong collaboration with the client and the client’s other service provider’s relationships with positive interactions and value adding activities.
Working collaboratively as part of wider Transpower FM team and with the wider Downer business.
This is a busy and varied role that will suit someone who is team focused, outcome focused and a strong relationship builder, ensuring that the clients’ requests are managed before problems arise.
The role will require some travel depending on the project locations.

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

You will have solid tenure and experience in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Site or Project Management or similar roles. You will be someone with a solid understanding of the Health and Safety requirements coupled with site management and leadership experience.

It is also essential that you have the following attributes and experience:

Relevant civil engineering and / or project / construction management experience and qualifications as required
Project delivery management and scoping / costing skills and experience
Strong technical, commercial and financial acumen
Experience, skills, and an understanding of the fundamental aspects of construction / civil engineering and business, including compliance and financial
Team player who supports and actively works towards achieving team goals
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Prioritising and time management skills
Highly efficient organisational skills, ability to meet deadlines
