Job Description

Come and join a small, passionate team working to restore the largest natural harbour in the Southern Hemisphere! KMR works collaboratively across nearly 6,000km2 to support landowners, iwi and hapū, community groups and industry to take action to improve water quality in the Kaipara Harbour.

Make a real difference by co-leading work to develop a nature-based workforce, growing local capacity and capability, and applying innovative approaches to ensure KMR can continue to ‘grow people, while growing trees’ into the future, across generations.

In this exciting role, among other duties, you will:

Evaluate the workforce opportunities and tools needed to meet KMR and partner aspirations
Implement agreed workforce development outcomes, including working with partners to establish a KMR Employment Hub.
Investigate potential alternative funding mechanisms for KMR, focusing in particular on third party partnership opportunities.
Provide expertise on future-focused business innovations to ensure KMR can deliver its objectives and meet delivery expectations.
Build great relationships with KMR partners, iwi and hapū, the community and industry.
Engage effectively externally, including via presentations and hui.
Ensuring a bi-cultural lens and focus is appropriately used.

To be successful you are likely to have:

A degree level qualification in a relevant field.
Proven experience in role(s) related to skills, workforce development, industry training, vocational education, and/or qualifications (approx. 5 years or more).
A track record of building, managing and reporting on complex, fast-moving projects.
Great written and spoken communication and relationship building skills.
Demonstrated commercial or financial acumen.
A good understanding of working in Te Ao Māori and with iwi and hapū.
Familiarity with Te Tai Tokerau/Tāmaki Makaurau workforce and community networks, or a demonstrated ability to connect with and develop these
Excellent analytical, research, conceptual-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to think creatively and effectively in terms of the “big picture”.
Great interpersonal and team skills.
