The Role As a Financial Accountant, you’ll support a portfolio of Place Makers branches by delivering accurate, timely financial reporting and maintaining strong financial control. You’ll work closely with branch teams and Support Office finance partners, ensuring the numbers are right and the story behind them is clear. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants exposure to operational finance in a large, multi-branch business. We have multiple roles across various locations. Southland, Timaru/Dunedin, Central Otago, Nelson, Levin/Palmerston North What You’ll Be Doing Completing month-end processes including journals, reconciliations and commentary
Preparing branch P&L and Balance Sheet reports with insightful variance analysis
Maintaining balance sheet integrity, fixed assets and cash reconciliations
Supporting forecasting, budgeting and consolidated reporting requirements
Acting as the key finance contact for assigned branches, including regular branch engagement
Supporting audits and ensuring compliance with financial policies and controls
Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems What We’re Looking For Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or equivalent
3 years’ experience in financial accounting or a similar role
Strong technical accounting capability (NZ IFRS experience preferred)
Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (JDE or similar)
Confident communicator who can explain financial information clearly
Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing deadlines
