Kōrero mō te Tūranga | About the Role Reporting to the Director Operations, this role will provide engaging, dynamic leadership, integrating strategic functional alignment to drive high performance and outcomes that ensure quality services are delivered to our communities in accordance with our values, strategies, ways of working and Long-Term/Annual Plan commitments.

You’ll be fully accountable for the development and effective implementation of our compliance strategy.

More about the role: Focus on strategic implementation across a 3-to-5-year horizon of cross-organisation & integrated service delivery Oversee and structure relationships with stakeholders Lead the organisational approach to being a good regulator Accountable for meeting our statutory timelines and standards for processing all consents Oversee the reporting of progress on operational deliverables Ensure operational input into the Long-Term Plan (LTP), annual plans, Resource Management Act plans Design, implement, review, & improve productive organisational systems Support the transitioning to a new and ongoing way of operating Maintain a safety focused culture where health, safety and wellbeing are at the heart of decision making for kaimahi Mōu │ About You Ideally, you’ll have a Bachelor’s degree in a related speciality (e.g.

Resource Management, Environmental Planning, Environmental Law, Natural Resource Management) that has relevance to the role.

You’ll have a minimum of 10-years’ experience working in regulatory implementation of the Resource Management Act and other legislations.

Additionally, you’ll be accustomed to developing and forming lasting relationships, including engaging with our Ngāi Tahu partners to ensure understanding of Ngāi Tahu aspirations and priorities as they relate to our programme development and prioritisation.

More about you: A strong technical leader A strategic thinker with a lens on the future An experienced senior manager within the public or private sector, capable of leading large, complex regulatory programmes of work Have a high-level understanding of legal regulation and statutory requirements Work to tight timeframes and targets including LTP levels of service Able to translate statutory standards, guidelines, and professional practices into a robust decision Have financial management expertise, including risk management, budgets, fiscal plans & forecasting skills People leadership, mentoring, coaching & demonstrable experience contributing to service delivery uplift Commitment to & an understanding of te ao Māori, awareness of the evolving obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi, together with experience of applying this in a workplace setting The success of this role relies on authentic leadership, motivating, managing performance and accountability, and developing leaders.
