Job Description Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity Downer holds three (3) Facilities Maintenance and Management Services Contracts with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for the provision of Facilities Maintenance and Management Services. Our Grounds teams play a key role in delivering services to our customer in a timely, safe, quality and cost effective manner. Our Grounds teams are responsible for the maintenance of camp/base grounds and delivery of grounds services to specification. Duties for a grounds person include, but are not limited to: Airfield Mowing of Airfield broad acreage. Sweeping the airfield runways and aprons. Requires a class 2 drivers licence. Litter removal. Weed trimming Weed/lichen spraying. Garden maintenance and planting. Curb and gutter cleaning and maintenance; and Plant & equipment maintenance. Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills Appropriate grounds industry experience. Experience with various types of machinery and equipment – tractors over 140 HP, mowers, vehicles and small plant. Chemical usage qualification (Growsafe). Class 1 & 2 Driver’s License, and WTR an advantage Be physically fit and conditioned and agile. Be a good communicator. Be suitable and able to attain a Defence Security Clearance.
