This position reports to Local Product Group Manager Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in your assigned area, fostering a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. You will support the business by applying your in-depth HSE knowledge, offering solutions and advice daily. The work model for this role is onsite. #LI-Onsite This position supports the Power Protection product group based in Napier. You will assist local stakeholders in understanding their obligations, liabilities, and requirements for role fulfillment, in accordance with local HSE laws and group/business-specific standards. Your responsibilities also include integrating site maintenance duties to maintain a safe, efficient, and sustainable work environment, contributing to the Electrical Safety Team, managing site maintenance activities (such as plumbing, electrical work, and security), and driving sustainability improvements. You will be mainly accountable for: Reporting HSE incidents to management and relevant stakeholders, and taking appropriate actions. Facilitating and guiding incident investigations to identify risk mitigation strategies. Providing feedback to management and employees on lessons learned and best practices within their units and across ABB. Supporting and promoting behavioral change through the implementation of group-wide and business-specific performance improvement programs and practices. Due to our international operations, you will participate in meetings outside standard hours, gaining experience across different time zones and cultures. Qualifications for the role Proven experience in manufacturing or assembly environments. Good understanding of NZ HSE legislation and practical application. Experience in site maintenance coordination or facility management. A passion for creating safe, efficient, and sustainable workplaces, with a keen interest in external sustainability trends and continuous improvement. Relevant qualifications (e.g., NZ Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety, NEBOSH) are preferred. Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to engage and influence effectively.
