The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Attention all NZ Registered Social Workers (applicants from other clinical backgrounds are also welcome to apply, ie Registered Nurse with scope to work in mental health, Occupational Therapists). We are looking for a creative and energised registered social worker to work Monday and Wednesday 10.30-7:00pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30am- 5.00pm in Otautahi/Christchurch.
You will be responsible for co-facilitating the Real Talk group programme and for providing our one-to-one community-based mentoring support.
About the Real Talk group programme
Real Talk is an 8-10 week programme for taiohi aged 12-24 years who need extra support around managing anxiety, depression and/or stress-related behaviours. It’s aimed at taiohi with mild to moderate needs. Real Talk is designed to help:
develop self-esteem and self-confidence
manage and reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), sensory modulation, and mindfulness tools
maintain and develop positive relationships
decrease feelings of isolation and loneliness, and strengthen resilience
All necessary training will be provided.
You will have:
A necessary clinical registration with current New Zealand practicing certificate
An understanding of trauma-informed care and experience working with taiohi
Experience in or comfortable with group facilitation
A current New Zealand first aid certificate, or be prepared to obtain one
You will be:
A great communicator who loves supporting and mentoring others
Inspiring others with enthusiasm and a take-action approach
The sort of person who will listen deeply to the people who use our services
A fresh thinker, using curiosity and imagination to generate new ideas
Passionate about supporting taiohi to build confidence and resilience.
