About the role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to take on a senior nursing leadership role at Wairarapa Hospital. You will join a professional and dedicated team and be supported with an orientation programme into this role. Wairarapa Hospital serves a mainly rural population of around 48,000. It has up to 92 beds and provides most secondary services, including Acute Services with an associated High Dependency Unit, medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, and rehabilitation. The hospital campus includes Selina Sutherland Private Hospital. The DNM team works in partnership with other staff—clinical and non-clinical—to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective running of the hospital. This includes ensuring appropriate transitions of care for deteriorating patients, coordinating resource utilization, and upholding continuous quality improvement and nursing standards. The DNM demonstrates and applies a high level of clinical expertise, either directly or by coaching and supporting junior staff, particularly after-hours. This is a fixed-term, part-time position for up to 6 months, working 48 hours per fortnight (0.6 FTE), with rostered and rotating shifts. The fixed-term nature is to provide cover for another employee on secondment. Eligibility To be eligible to apply, you must be a New Zealand citizen or hold a resident or permanent work visa. About you Qualifications required: New Zealand Registered Nurse qualification, including current APC. Holds Level 6 NZRC, and APLS and Neonatal Resuscitation certifications, or undertake study to achieve these. Has achieved proficient level on the PDRP.
