We are inviting applications for Scientist or Senior Scientist. Please see the attached Job Descriptions for more details.

This role works closely with our multi-skilled team of water quality and aquatic ecology scientists to address challenging issues including land use effects on surface water quality, sustainable resource use, and the implementation of the Essential Freshwater programme.

A strong scientific background will guide you in providing analysis, interpretation, presentation and reporting of our data and information to decision makers, tangata whenua, and our community. You will also be able to design and implement monitoring and investigations programmes to respond to key issues.

The ability to learn our existing processes and share knowledge will be a key asset, as you provide guidance and advice to the business and community. The technical nature of the role requires excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.

To be successful in this role you will have:
An excellent understanding of river and lake water quality, lake ecosystem processes, and/or nutrient-algae dynamics,
excellent data analysis skills including statistical analysis and GIS experience,
excellent interpretation and writing skills,
great communication and relationship building skills,
great team player and collaborator,
a master’s degree in a relevant field with two years of professional experience or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with five years of professional experience.
Understanding of and commitment to honouring tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi combined with experience of incorporating te ao Māori perspectives into science delivery.
The indicative salary range is $70,000 to $110,000, dependent on your experience and qualifications.
