With, and as, tangata whenua, we value Te Tiriti o Waitangi, rangatiratanga, manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, whai matauranga, whanaungatanga, and akoranga.Korero mo te turanga - About the roleTe Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Laboratory Technician, Microbiology and Molecular Biology in the School of Biological Sciences.The role and purpose of the Laboratory Technical Officer is to carry out preparation for the undergraduate teaching laboratories in the School of Biology Science (SBS), and to support the School in its wider activities.Key Responsibilities: Ensures laboratory classes are set up appropriately for allocated classes including preparation, maintenance, and support.Maintains relationships with academic staff and other technical staff to provide an effective contribution for the smooth operation of teaching laboratories.Operates instruments associated with teaching as required.Collects, prepares, or cultures biological specimens.Provides assistance with research-related activities during periods when teaching demands are reduced.Ensures the requirements of academic programmes can be achieved, taking into account health and safety requirements and other legislative requirements.
