Calling innovative kaiako and educators Te Papa is seeking innovative educators to contribute to the development of our learning programmes for akonga, with a special focus on Kaupapa Maori contexts, Matauranga Maori and Maori learners where ever they sit in the system. You will empower our learners to engage with Te Papa's collections, exhibitions and resources by designing and facilitating meaningful learning experiences, resources and products for akonga. You will help us grow our learning communities and expand our reach and accessibility through learning. You will work as part of a team to design rich and authentic programmes for akonga with a priority on Maori medium settings. You will design programmes that integrate Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, The New Zealand Curriculum and School/Kura specific curricula , te Ao Maori and Te Papa's taonga. You will encourage and advise others on embedding Matauranga Maori concepts within learning programmes, and help develop our relationship with kohanga reo, kura kaupapa Maori and kura a iwi. The Learning team comprises of specialists across museum education including formal learning, early childhood, kohanga reo, kura kaupapa, primary and secondary school audiences, and Hinatore. Learning Specialists work closely together to facilitate a dynamic range of learning programmes for school and kura groups, onsite, on outreach and by digital delivery. You will also work alongside Te Papa's staff in curatorial, collections, exhibitions and visitor services teams. About you: You are a passionate and talented educator who engages learning and technology to make a real difference to the communities you work with. You are creative, innovative and skilled in supporting learning inside or outside of the classroom. You are a strong educator, confident in working with groups of akonga of all ages, and you have particular experience in working with or teaching in a Maori medium context or contexts where kaupapa Maori and Matauranga is the focus. You have strong networks and relationships in your field. You bring a range of innovative learning practices and you create empowering learning experiences with emerging learning technologies. You're an advocate for learning and you're passionate about contributing to educational innovation. You're a lifelong learner with a growth mindset who enjoys creative problem solving. You enjoy developing new programmes and products, and you believe in testing ideas and experimenting. You're a team player with great ideas and the skills to bring them to life. Fluency in Te Reo Maori, confidence in tikanga Maori and the ability to deliver programmes in Te Reo Maori to audiences of varying fluency is essential. There is one permanent and full time (40 hour per week) role. Other arrangements will be considered for the right person - especially for a kura based kaiako looking to reinvigorate their practice would be welcomed. The salary range for this position is $79,299 to $109,036.Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees.
