About the role

This is a 12 month fixed-term parental leave cover engagement, ideally starting 1 September 2022 to allow for a month hand-over. 

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Commercial and Legal Executive provides support, insights and recommendations to the leadership team, company directors, as well as internal and external shareholders related to commercial activities and legal transactions.

This role supports the development of strategic direction and plans for the company regarding all commercial functions including sales, marketing, business development, and customer experience. Providing counsel on matters relating to changes in legislation, regulation and risk are important features of the role.

This role will see you engage and negotiate with third parties, partners, customers, stakeholders and advisors. At all times you are expected to represent the company in a professional way, live up to our values and protect the interests of the company.

About you

We're seeking someone proactive, solution focused and with the ability to engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously. You'll be known for your creative, strategic, analytical, organisational and negotiation skills. 

Due to the nature of the role you'll hold advanced MS skills and the finesse to efficiently interact with board members and directors.

Essential for success:

• Law degree with experience gained in a large law firm 
• Experience with Commercial Law, International Law, the Resource Management Act 1991, and Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
• Experience leading commercial negotiations
• Experience with council organisations and local government
• Experience with transactions involving the purchase and sale of assets.


Experience in the maritime industry, familiarity with Maritime Law, the Land Transport Management Act 2003 and the Public Transport Operating Model highly beneficial.
