As a National Conservation Advocate at Forest & Bird, you will play a key role in driving the organisation’s advocacy efforts to safeguard our precious ecosystems and wildlife. This full-time position is based in Wellington CBD, offering you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on environmental conservation at a national level. What you’ll be doing Developing and implementing strategic advocacy campaigns to influence government policy and decision-making on conservation issues Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, politicians, and community groups Conducting research, analysis, and policy development to support the organisation’s advocacy efforts Representing Forest & Bird at public events, conferences, and media interviews to raise awareness and build support for conservation initiatives Collaborating with the wider Forest & Bird team to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to national advocacy. What we’re looking for Significant experience in environmental advocacy, policy, or campaigning, preferably within the environment and sustainability consulting industry Excellent research, analysis, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear and compelling messaging Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and persuade a diverse range of stakeholders A deep understanding and passion for environmental conservation and sustainability issues in New Zealand Proven track record of driving successful advocacy campaigns and achieving positive outcomes.
