Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

A key role, reporting to the Transport Safety & Partnerships Manager, the Transport Safety Data Lead will be responsible for leading the monitoring of transport safety outcomes at a network level and providing insights and analysis to inform program development.

The role involves proactively monitoring and reporting data trends and using this data to provide insights to the Transport Safety team and relevant internal and external stakeholders. The role acts as a trusted advisor on the strategic alignment of programs to deliver transport safety outcomes across Tāmaki Makaurau.

As a trusted advisor you will require a high degree of technical expertise in Safe System, Vision Zero and other relevant Transport Safety areas. 

To be successful in this role you will need - 

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field is desired.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in specialist role providing data, insights and advice on transport safety programmes and initiatives.
  • Experience in selecting, measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of transport safety programmes.
  • Proven experience in analysing and communicating transport safety related data.
  • Proven proficiency in using the Crash Analysis System (CAS) is desirable.
  • Ability to identify and communicate issues and opportunities in programmes of work to enhance transport safety outcomes.
  • Confident in working with a variety of data sets to identify trends, patterns and insights.
  • Ability to lead complex problem-solving requiring participation and delivery by multiple organisations/parties.
  • Experience in coaching and supporting others on the effective use of data and insights.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with a broad range of people.
