Job descriptionCritical is looking for a Mid or Senior Development Engineer with a background in manufacturing, preferably in polymer processing. As a small company with large ambitions, this job is full of challenging opportunities. The type of person we are looking forStartups is not for the faint of heart. You will be entering a high pressure and fast paced environment where change happens fast. Critical is developing cutting edge technology there is no precedent therefore you need to be comfortable operating outside of the engineering textbook. ResponsibilitiesYou will be the brains, hands and feet of developing and completing Critical.'s next generation microfactory technology within 12 months and are expected to uplift our production capabilities every quarter while executing required engineering breakthroughs. This looks like:Project managementOversee and drive modifications to existing equipment and processProject manage tasks from start to finish while driving executionPlan improvement projects with finite costs and timelinesWork with Operations, Production, Technicians, Consultants, Suppliers and Management to ensure coordinated efforts in scheduling and planning production upgrades.Research, make recommendations, and potentially commision new equipment from overseas suppliers and identify any issues for compatibilityDevelop and document a deep understanding of technical requirements through our current manufacturing process and clearly communicate specifications and requirements to external fabricators. Broad knowledge of mechanical and thermodynamic systems, fabrication and machinery and materials knowledge including polymers is desired.High tolerance in dealing with unknowns, an incomplete data set, and a measure of risk tolerance is required.Experience with polymer processing or engineering. A background of Mechanical Engineering, and/or Materials Science with Polymers is preferred.Experience in production/manufacturing or heavy machineryExperience in technical field, engineering or R&DExperience in GMP practices, Quality Assurance, and Process controlProficient in digital CAD packages like Solidworks to design simple, efficient, cost effective real-world solutions in our factory.Basic fabrication abilities using powered tools and equipment to do alterations or modifications to equipment.
