Injection Die SetterFull-timeJob DescriptionPurpose: To ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing process and to assist the Shift Leading Hand so that products are delivered in full, to the correct quality specification, and on time in line with the requirements of the manufacturing plan. To work as part of the operational team providing technical and fitting services to the team, to ensure the efficient running of the manufacturing process and to help ensure best utilisation of materials and labour. The ability to perform shift work and regular weekend work are requirements of the position.Key Performance Indicators are:To help ensure key cost areas of raw material usage, workstation up time, process efficiency, labour usage and quality requirements are met To ensure that all health and safety requirements are metTo ensure that environmental and food hygiene requirements are metThis is a production role and is pivotal to the smooth running of the manufacturing operation. Time should be divided between:Performing insert changes and die changes on all equipment as requiredEnsure that product conforms to quality specification at start upMake adjustments to the process to ensure quality performance is met at all timesCarry out routine maintenance of equipment as requiredRepair equipment and tooling breakdowns in line with acquired skillsEnsure key cost area of material usage is considered and process optimisation is preformed to reduce wastageAssist with the training requirements of production and temporary staff to ensure understanding and knowledge requirements for production and safety purposesUndertake special projects as requiredOther tasks as required by the process technician or operations managerHighlight and action tooling and machinery maintenance requests as required during and at the end of production runsCommunicate effectively with all fitting and technical staff in the department by way of completing detailed shift reports so that essential information and issues encountered are passed onTraining & Experience Requirements: Essential Engineering or Mechanical Trade qualificationThorough understanding of all Quality Assurance systems in useCan demonstrate written, oral and communication skills in line with the requirements of the roleThorough understanding of the manufacturing processes utilizedThorough knowledge of all products producedMaintain a current first aid certificateMaintain a current forklift operators certificateHigh level of demonstrated mechanical experienceDesirable:Working toward completion of a plastics trade qualification that reflects the responsibilities of the rolePrevious shift work experiencePrevious plastics industry experienceExperience using word processing and spreadsheet programmesReports To: Injection Process TechnicianResponsibilities & Decision making: MaterialsWork with the raw materials staff and the leading hands to ensure components and material are available to meet production requirementsSafetyTo undertake all work in a safe manner with respect to oneself and others at all timesCleaning up after any spillage.To use all safety equipment supplied as directedFollow all signage and comply with TOPs ProceduresTo report any potential hazards or unsafe conditionsTo report any injury, incident or near missAssist to clean machines when not in operationEnsure that safety observations are completed in line with requirementsFollow all WHSE policies and proceduresProduct QualityEnsure that product conforms to quality specification at start upEnsure the correct quality checks are done at start up and that start up samples are available at the workstationMake adjustments to the process to ensure quality performance is met at all timesAssist with quality staff training if requiredHygieneTo ensure a continual high standard of personal hygiene and plant housekeeping/hygiene whilst on site and in working situationTo wear paper hats, beard masks as required to ensure minimum contamination of food grade productsTo wash hands regularly - always after use of toilet.To follow all other Food Packaging hygiene rules in placeEnsure that reporting staff follow all hygiene rulesWorking relationshipsMaintain contact with the shift leading hand for prioritising of work, quality issues and work centre issuesMaintain contact with maintenance staff for repair and maintenance of tooling and equipmentContact with operating staff for work centre uptime and quality issuesContact with the process technicians for support with training and skill requirements and with assistance of complex technical issuesPerform effective change over's with oncoming fitting staffEnvironmentalAdhere to the company environmental policy and guidelinesAdhere to TOP's environmental proceduresIdentify potential environmental hazards and report theseAssist with achieving environmental targets where possible???????House KeepingEnsure that the floor is kept free of material spillage and water/oil leaksEnsure that the department operational areas are tidy at shift change over'sEnsure tool boxes are kept free of debris and hand tools are cleanMinimise materials left on machine decks during start-ups and shutdowns???????GeneralTo communicate concerns openly and to be prepared to be involved in problem solving and continuous improvement activitiesTo be punctual, i.e. on site prior to the shift's commencement and attend shift hand over meetingAdhere to all company policies and proceduresThe role has the requirement of regular overtime commitments which will involve some weekend workIf in doubt – ASKAdditional InformationAbout usOur vision is to lead the circular economy through packaging, reuse and recycling solutions.
